Choose a diamond with confidence.
Understand origin, carat, shape and grading so you can choose the diamond that feels right for you.
A diamond is best compared through its complete details and how it looks in the design you love.
Natural and lab-grown
Natural diamonds form in the earth. Lab-grown diamonds are created by technological processes. Both are diamonds; their origin should be clearly stated. We offer guidance on both so you can decide according to your preferences and budget.
Carat and appearance
Carat is a measure of weight. The visible size also depends on shape, proportions and setting. A well-chosen diamond should look balanced in the ring and comfortable on the hand. Compare dimensions and on-hand views where available.
The 4Cs
Cut relates to the way a diamond’s facets interact with light; colour and clarity describe graded characteristics; carat describes weight. The right balance depends on the diamond’s shape and what you value most. Ask to see the details of the exact stone offered.
Read the report
A grading report describes a particular diamond and, where stated, its origin and assessed characteristics. Confirm the report number and the document that will accompany your order. A loose-diamond grading report is different from a finished-jewellery report.
